The Soccer Odyssey
We turned a vintage school shuttle into a soccer bus to travel the country. And we interviewed USMNT star Tim Weah in the middle of the woods...

The Soccer Odyssey

We’ve been silently working on this project for the past six months, and we wanted to share it with you all first: a collectible print magazine, with an added twist 🚌
You can be the first to get it here.
Just type in “Sasquatch” in the password box (case-sensitive) and you’ll get early access to it now + a sneak peek at the soccer bus we built to travel the country this year.
INSIDE
A Sprawling Expedition

This whole project started with one question: “If we could tell eleven stories that truly capture the essence of American soccer today, what would they be?”
Our journey to answer that question took us to the hills of Turin, the coastal plains of San Diego, the hallowed grounds of Churchill Downs in Kentucky, and beyond. Ten different destinations in the States and one location halfway across the globe.
The Soccer Odyssey is the final product from that arduous quest. A collection of eleven profile interview stories that explore the vast and vibrant American soccer landscape, taking readers on a winding journey filled with tales of self-discovery, challenges, and triumphs.
It’s a 140-page endeavor to uncover and immortalize the heart of American soccer, right before the 2026 World Cup, forever.
COVER STORY
Tim Weah’s Campfire Stories

There’s no better setting to get to know someone than sitting by a small fire in the middle of the woods. So that’s what we decided to do with Tim Weah.
It was quite a trek. Planes, trains, and a winding drive up to Gassino Torinese on the outskirts of Turin. We saw vintage cars, goats, and ample farmsteads on our way up the countryside with Tim.
On that isolated hillside overlooking the city, Tim opened up about his family, the nuances of building a legacy, and what he hopes the World Cup will do for soccer in America.
But it wasn’t all just serious conversation. Superbad, Project X, and Travis Scott all came up. Best six hours one could spend in Italy.

Ten More Tales

We didn’t want to just stick to the USMNT, though. We curated an array of stories from as many angles and levels across the American soccer space as possible.
Brianna Pinto: The NWSL player responsible for bringing the 2026 World Cup to North America.
Wilson Harris: We toured Churchill Downs with the youngest player to reach 60 goals in USL.
12 Pentagons: A married couple of artists/entrepreneurs based in St. Louis who make soccer balls inspired by watermelons, fungus fibers, Tetris, and more.
Teófilo Cubillas: An NASL legend who Pelé once called his “successor.” Cubillas changed soccer in Ft. Lauderdale, the country, & the world forever.
The Flag Czar: A fan in Chattanooga, TN, waving the (alleged) largest soccer flag in America. He burns 3,500 calories per game.
Christina Unkel: A FIFA referee, lawyer, TV broadcaster, and now president of the Tampa Bay Sun in the new USL Super League.
The Mohican Warrior: A Major Indoor Soccer League [MISL] legend known for his eccentric mohawk and ability to capture the imagination of young fans.
San Diego Soccer Women: Dive into the world of adult soccer leagues for women in their 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s.
Captain Husam: A local tournament icon in Maryland that unites immigrant communities through the teams and cups he helps run.
The Roadrunner: A fan who fell in love with soccer at the Grand Canyon. She now drives 8 hours to Utah Royals games.
But there are more stories waiting to be told…
TRANSPORTATION
Introducing Our Soccer Bus

Peter Bonilla
As we were working on this magazine, we wanted to find a way to more intimately connect with soccer communities across the country and capture stories from all over America with a greater impact on the ground.
So, we repurposed a vintage school shuttle and transformed it into a traveling soccer bus for this next leg of our journey.
Stay tuned for its official reveal today at 11 AM EST here.
TRAVEL
One Mag = 100 Miles

We’ll be hitting the road to explore the American soccer landscape in a tour for the ages. Throughout our voyage, we’ll visit the most vibrant soccer communities in our nation to share our first print issue, host memorable events, and tell more stories that uncover the unique, dedicated, and passionate cultures that make up the heart of American soccer.
Every magazine sold will directly power our traveling soccer bus, helping us reach new destinations in every corner of the country and create a lasting impact in every community we visit.
We did the math, and each magazine can fuel our bus for about 100 miles.

It was great to see our faux “boarding passes” out in the wild over the past few days. You don’t need one to come aboard the bus, of course, but if you got one, you should still save it just in case…
Unrelated pro-tip, they can double as bookmarks for when you’re reading the magazine.
